Emerson’s work has included disputes relating to various land-based infrastructure projects including: railways; sports stadia; airports; reclamations; hotels; residential apartments; and leisure facilities. These disputes related to claims for extensions of time, loss and expense and damages.

Emerson has also worked on disputes relating to the procurement of infrastructure projects and also construction-related commercial disputes including interim relief, insolvency and issues relating to guarantees.

Emerson also has experience of insurance-related issues arising from construction projects. These disputes have been conducted in litigation (Technology and Construction Court in England and Wales, the Commercial Court in England and Wales, and the High Court in Hong Kong SAR), arbitration (ad hoc, ICC, and HKIA), adjudication.

Emerson also has experience of expert determination and disputes under the auspices of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) dispute resolution procedure (DSB).

Emerson also has experience of mediations.

Emerson has significant experience of handling disputes involving multi-parties.

In addition, Emerson has experience of “project doctoring”. Emerson has worked with a number of developers and contractors on project based issues, including arising from the design and construction of Wembley Stadium and the design and construction of the East Rail extension in Hong Kong SAR by the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation (as was).
