Mr. Moritz has more than 35 years of experience in a wide variety of complex commercial litigations. He has worked extensively in the telecommunications and electric utility industries. He was lead counsel for the State of Illinois in the landmark Goldberg vs. Sweet telecommunication tax decision in the United States Supreme Court. He is currently representing wireless carriers in class action disputes in a number of jurisdictions and, most recently, represented a large power generation enterprise in several significant disputes involving long-term power purchase agreements and fuel servicing agreements.

He has represented issuers, underwriters and brokers-dealers in defending securities fraud claims. As a special assistant attorney general, Mr. Moritz has defended the states of Illinois and Minnesota matters where the constitutionality of certain state taxes was at issue. His appellate experience is as extensive as his trial work. Mr. Moritz is a frequent author and lecturer on a variety of topics.

Mr. Moritz served as a law clerk to the Honorable William J. Lynch, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. He has served as a special assistant attorney general for both the states of Illinois and Minnesota. He is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations.
