In March 2007 Carl Nelson joined NGM as the Construction and Technical Director. He is responsible for design selection, procurement and co-ordination of the construction programme. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and spent 24 years in the Royal Engineers before joining Zurich Insurance Building Guarantee as its Technical Manager, assessing Modern Methods of Construction for warranty purposes, providing technical policy and assistance to the Claims Department for high value claims and up-dating Zurich Building Guarantee Technical Standards.

As the Technical Manager I was responsible for producing and updating the Technical Requirements Building Standards, producing the ZBG Website, assessing new products and Building Systems for warranty. Taking part in technical working groups at the , BSI, ABI, CML and BRE. On the Steering Group for the HBF's response to the "Barker 33 report" and BRE's LPS 2020 Certifcation of Calibration. Also worked on Major claims adjudicating between developers and clients. Technical and Heath and Safety training.

Essential Services Manager
Responsible for all the essential services staff with the UNFICYP Airport base at Nicosia in Cyprus and British Commonwealth Sites. Resposible for 24 hr cover of all water, sewage and power supplies to the airport and to carry out planned and new project works. Successfully completed the first major electrical contract using a Turkish contractor for two UN camps. The work involved the installation of HV/LV overhead electrical distribution network and cables connections to each building distributions boxes.
